Yoga Practice

Yoga builds core strength, flexibility and balance making it a great complement to climbing.

Shoulders are a common problem area for climbers. The focus on pulling can lead to rounded shoulders with reduced outward rotation.Yoga can help by stretching the lats and pectorals while strengthening the lower trapezius which oppose the lats. Balancing these muscles may improve stability and increase reach.

Surya Namaskar is a flowing sequence of  asanas with breath and movement co-ordinated. It's an ideal warm-up or quick practice. This is a traditional version taken from the Bihar School of Yoga
